This page will detail our 2008 meetings and workshop program. 

Each meeting is the first Saturday of the month and commences at 1:30pm at the North Rocks Senior Citizens Room (Cnr Farnell & North Rocks Road - behind the tennis courts). Members are welcome to participate in critiquing sessions after each workshop. Feel free to bring along a poem or a page or two of your latest story.

February 2nd:
* Short short story (to 1000 words) by Denise Aldridge.

- learn the skills necessary to craft award-winning stories in limited words

March 1st:
* Presentation of your work for submission - Carolyn Alfonzetti.

- Carolyn will talk about how to polish your manuscript to give it a winning edge for submission for competitions and for sale.
- Following this short workshop will be a critiquing afternoon. Members are encouraged to bring a poem or the first couple of pages of a short story or novel for constructive feedback from their colleagues.

April 5th:
* Bush Ballads and Traditional Bush Verse - Brian Beesley

- Brian is an accomplished and award-winning author of this genre. Join us for a stimulating workshop on how to craft these wonderful Australian tales and how to select the appropriate market for your work.

May 3rd:
* Writers Block: Chasing the Muse. Where to Find Inspiration -
Christine Hunfalvay

- Let Christine share her tips with you for finding fresh ideas for your next poem, short story or novel. Christine will open the creative writer's tool box and share her tips for romancing the muse.

June 7th:
* Articles of Association - what makes a prize-winning and saleable article - David Terelinck

- David shows us how to write articles that draw the reader in and keep them engaged from beginning to end.

July 5th:
* Love Your Writing: Romance Fiction for Everyone -
Jeanette Whitehead

- Jeanette shares her invaluable knowledge for creating romance stories that enthrall and resonate.

August 2nd:
* Poetry that Flows: Free Verse - Helena Hamilton

- Helena takes out imagination to another level as she takes us through the skills on constructing moving and vivid images in free verse.

September 6th:
* AGM and Critiquing Afternoon

- The Eastwood/Hills FAW will conduct it's regular Annual General Meeting and election of office bearers for the following 12 months. Afterwards spend a pleasant afternoon critiquing yours and other members work.

October 4th:
* Freeing the Child Within: Writing for Littlies - Alice Suttie

- Alice has a gift for writing for children. Allow her to share her knowledge with you as she imparts the skills required to reach the demanding minds of the younger readers of today.

November 1st:
* Tell Your Own Story: Biographical Writing - Jenny Trimboli

- Jenny will show us how to make our own lives, and those of others, sing on paper and be fascinating to those who read them.

December 6th:
* Christmas Party                                                                                      
- Venue to be advised.
